Story One @ The Charlotte, Leicester - 14 Mar 06

I have had this date in my diary for quite some time with it being almost local, but with recent hospital stuff and feeling permanently shite, I was not sure till the eleventh hour that I would actually go. 

Flowerpot and I hit the road in search of The Charlotte, another new venue for me and we found it relatively easy.  Place was fairly empty and no signs of the Story One boys.

First support act that came on were called Fazes and started off a bit noisy but got progressively better as their set continued.  We were quite into the music by the end of the set.  Some nice rock music to get the night going.

Second band were local boys Digital Garden and they were definitely an improvement.  We could not help thinking how the band sounded so much older than their "12 year old" lead singer.  Their sound was good and it was very enjoyable.  I hope to catch these guys again soon.

Story One had since arrived and it was obvious they did not expect to see me there, but it had been 22 days since my last time and I needed my fix.  And of course they did not disappoint.  Some of the people in the Charlotte were not very nice to the boys but at least there were a few fans including Carl who sent me these smashing pics of the guys in action.

Story One sang all the favourites including a new song called "Air raid" (I think) looking forward to hearing that song a few more times. 

I am really getting quite excited about the album now and cant wait for 1^st May to buy my own copy of "Out of Season".  That is a really awesome song for a first single and the more I listen to it, the more I love it!

Idea was to go to Wolverhampton Little Civic the following night, but unfortunately I ended up having one of the worst days and could not face it.  If I turn down Story One, you know I am very ill!!!

Story One and Newsum Turn @ Coventry Coliseum 18 Mar 06

This night can be best remembered for a few odd things:

*  The weird drunk bloke that I nearly smacked for spoiling my viewing plesure by shouting out "topshop" or "tuckshop" and annoying frontman Tom.  You wont believe how close it was and I am not a fighter!!!

*  The strange venue that did not open its doors till nearly 10pm, had us observing the soundcheck with no security in place, had no draught beer to begin with and it was bitterly cold in there.

But when the music finally began, I was dazzled from the start with the great sound coming from unknown band (well unknown to me) Newsum Turn.  I was captivated from the start and my leg still hurts from me tapping it.  I really wish I was paying more attention so I can tell you what wonderful music I witnessed tonight, but I just remember loving it....will have to go and see them again so I can report back and perhaps a few more times then, just to be sure of course!

Main act (in my eyes anyway) got onstage then and the room quickly filled up.  Most people stopped and watch Tom, Mike, Barny and G do their thing.  All was well except for this irritating little so and so that really appeared to be getting on Tom's nerves.  Mike was beaming from ear to ear enjoying the antics from the back.

I know I am sounding like a broken record and anyone that does not know how much I rate this band, just read over the last 10 blogs of Story One gigs and you might get some idea. 

Roll on Nottingham on 30th March - will be 8th time this year!

PS:  Oh yes left after 2nd Crosbi song as it was all a bit of an anti-climax.

EXTREMELY PISSED OFF!!!!

Well today was a good day to begin with.  Did not feel so sick after my last chemo session and also I was a bit excited as Helen and I had decided to go to London tomorrow night to see the amazing Brinkman again.

Leaving work driving home listening to The Boy Least Likely To, thought I would stop at the local Co-op get some dinner in and go home and spend evening watching footy and on here promoting Wednesday's gig.

Got to the counter to pay for my goods and realised that some tosser had cut my bag from my shoulder, stealing practically everything I own.  Anyone that has seen my handbag can vouch for this.  I have lost my passport, my phone, my bank cards, about £180, my tablets not to mention my bloody make up!!!  Thankfully my car keys were in my pocket else I would have had a little dilemma there too!

To make things worse they neglected to turn on the bloody CCTV cameras in the shop, so there is no evidence at all.

Why do people do this??  And if its true what goes round comes round, then what the hell have I done, this is 3rd time this year!!!

Sorry I just had to get that off my chest.

GIG -Vic Inn Derby onn 22nd March 06

Well I feel like I have lost a child or something being  without the internet at home for just over a week!  In internet cafe now so will be plugging into the building site when I get home.  Even though I have been advised against it - so if my cough gets worse you know why....

Just have to tell you about the gig I'm organising on Wednesday at The Vic Inn in Derby.  On the bill is Richard Snow and the Inlaws (well one of them), Tom Wardle Band and The Crooks.  It will be a fab night of live music - so come and say hi.  Entry is 5 and you can ay at the door.

Go on you know you want to come and enjoy our company and meet my lovely friends :-)

Brinkman @ Fibbers York - 13 Mar 06

Well another roadtrip with my pal Helen only this time I am driving.  Took us hour to get out of Nottingham but once we were on the road it was pretty painless.

Finding York was no problem, but trying to navigate around the place was funny but eventually we found a parking spot and then walked (for what seems miles) to find the venue.

Being on the guestlist was ace - thanks Neil, Paul and Tom. 

Arrived to what can only be describe as a "teeny bob" party and this made me realise how much I prefer over 18's venues.  God how old did I feel?

Brinkman's Paul spotted us and came for a quick chat during first band, which can only be described  as noise.  No time at all and they were on stage and doing their thing.

Was a bit put out by 3 "children" hogging the stage and obstructing our photo opportunities but eh I suppose everybody needs to see. 

Musically Brinkman are fast becoming a favourite of mine as I took so much away from this and it was very much worth the trip to York.  Oh what else do I say - just go and look and listen for yourself.

We spoke to Neil, Tom and Giles for a short while after and then left again before the final band finished.  Night will be remembered for first time a band gave me a potato....yes a potato, well it had a smiley face on it!!

Think I should plant it and grow lots of JJ's :o) but I cant....
