Marching on to Cardiff and Adam Smith @ The Old Bell in Derby - 8 May 06

Spent all day yesterday doing absolutely nothing, well almost.

Arranged with Helen to go and see Adam Smith in Derby but I had forgotten about the little matter of 2nd leg of the Playoff Semi-final.  Would have been great being in Preston for this occasion but we dont always get what we want.

Running a bit late, we made our way to Derby listening to first half on radio and it seemed to be pretty much of a non-event with perhaps a couple of chances for each side.

Got to Barracuda in Derby just in time to find there had been a powerfailure at the Stadium and kick off for 2nd half was delayed.  They had also stopped serving food so no SA treats for me tonight.

Ok not going to bore you with 2nd half action but Leeds scored twice in quick succession, had most of our team booked (not unusual) and finished the night with 9 men.  The last sending off being a total bloody mystery to me and lets just hope that we don't miss Cresswell  too much on final day.  Get some specs referee!!!!

Very excited we went in search of the Old Bell Hotel to find that Adam Smith had already started.  I was not familiar with much of his music but arrived to a song called "Desolate" which Helen said she loved.  I enjoyed the quiet accoustic setting for a change and it was nice to sit down (how old am I?).

Adam sang my favourite Green Day cover "Good Riddance" and loads of his own great stuff.  Loved the chat in between and found it hard to believe the place was so empty.  Hope to catch Adam again soon.

Had a girly catchup in the ladies before going in search of dinner which sadly ended up as some ready meal from ASDA but its the price we pay for this "Rock n Roll" lifestyle
